In the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, it’s easy to pin the blame for our declining high streets on the pandemic but of course they had been in trouble for a long time before the coronavirus struck.

Maybe a more integrated place-based approach could be their saviour. Saving the High Street: the community takeover is a new report by the London School of Economics and Political Science that asks whether community business ownership properly coordinated by local authorities might make our high streets more resilient.
